Bahrain set for Formula 1 feast of entertainment
Mar.9 (Manama) As the 2010 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season prepares to kick off with the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend, Bahrain International Circuit has prepared a huge variety of entertainment to celebrate the 60th anniversary season of the world’s most renowned motorsport championship.
One of the region’s most famous Arabic Singers Hussain Al Jasmi will be performing on Thursday 11th March at the Bahrain International Circuit concert area. The public will be able to enter the concert area at 6pm with the renowned Hussain Al Jasmi beginning his performance at 8pm. Saturday 12th March will see international artists Sean Kingston’ s unique reggae fusion style and Flo Rida’s famous RnB hits entertain spectators as these two world famous performers take to the stage. The concert will take place at the concert area, with the performance beginning at 730pm. On the final day of the Formula 1™ Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix super producer Timbaland will be taking to the stage at 730pm. All spectators who purchase a three day ticket pass will be able to attend all three concerts free of charge.
Circus Mama Africa will be amazing spectators during the 2010 Formula 1™ Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix with its distinctly African flavoured performances which will explore the many rich cultures of this exotic continent. This Tanzania based group of performers who have travelled right out of the heart of Africa to take part in the exciting entertainment program lined up for the inaugural race of the FIA Formula 1™ World Championship. The Circus will feature dare devil acrobats and aerialists, superhuman feats of strength, dancers, jugglers, clowns, contortionists and many more performers who will explore the unique traditions and customs that can be found in East Africa. The group is made up of 41 performers who each have their own specialty from dancing, comedy contortions, African music, ‘rolla rolla’ acts and much more. Fans will be able to experience the chills and thrills of the circus acts as the hypnotic rhythms of the percussionists add the electrifying atmosphere.
Legends, one of the most talented Bob Marley tribute bands, will be performing for the first time in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The 8 member band has worked with some of the most influential reggae artists to be found, such as ‘The Mighty Diamonds, Dennis Brown, Burning Spear, Musical Youth’ and many more. With many of Bob Marley’s timeless classics included in this band’s cover song list, visitors will be able to experience a huge variety of the songs which created modern day reggae.
International cover band ‘Patrick-Alan Bob,’ specializing in R&B hits, will be playing some of this year’s most popular chart successes. This musical group, which has performed at venues all over the UK, the USA and a variety of other international locations, will be playing on stage 1, 4 times a day during all 3 days of the racing weekend.
Lisa, one of the most established and successful electronic violinists in the UK, will be adding her blazing style to the entertainment line-up as she combines easy listening music with a highly energized choreographed routine. Her style of music merges powerful modern electronic beats and classical sounds to make for a very unique experience.
DJ Hooch, one of the UK’s most successful promoters and DJs, will be playing a huge selection of music including Funk, Hip Hop, Reggae, Rock and much more on stage 1. This self professed street culture fanatic has a long history of performing throughout the UK, from some of the largest underground warehouse parties to be found in South London to international clubs and party venues. DJ Hooch has been completely immersed in the youth street culture which has developed throughout London over the past 20 years and has performed with Funk legends Parliament, Funkadelic, George Clinton and many other influential artists.
The Cash Cows will be performing their own jazzy versions of well known tunes on their double bass and guitar. This duo’s routine includes their own unique take on modern hits as their up beat style keeps the dance floor full. Having performed at the Glastonbury, Big Green Gathering and Edinburgh Music Festivals, as well as performing as part of Britain’s T-mobile national advertising campaign, this cover group have a long history of entertaining audiences with their intriguing and instantly lovable mix of hits.
The Top Bananas, a stilt walking musical group, will be playing a selection of Jazz, Funk, Disco and Ska classics on their oil can guitar, horns, bass and percussion instruments. Dressed up in a variety of costume themes, spectators won’t be able to miss these dynamic stilt walking performers as they bounce, jump and jig all over the vending area.
Renowned Saxophonist’ Elliott Rush’ is one of several street performers who will be scattered throughout the vending area during the racing weekend at Bahrain International Circuit. Playing a selection of Soul, Blues and urban contemporary music, Elliot will be adding yet another genre of music to the 2010 Formula 1™ Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.
Frenchman Guida will be giving spectators a very rare taste of the acoustic and melodic sounds of the Hang drum, a relatively new Swiss metal drum construction which produces an extremely unique harmonic and ethereal tune. Guida will be performing throughout the media and Paddock tunnels at Race Number One.
Classic Guitarist Rob will be giving the Formula 1™ Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix a bohemian vibe with his own versions of some of the best chart toppers and favourite hits to be produced over the past several years.
The ‘Mariachi Mexteca’ band will be adding the huge variety of musical genres playing throughout the race weekend. As one of Mexico’s most famous exports, this vibrant 5 member group will give spectators a real taste of Mexico with their vibrant costumes and Latin tunes.
The B-Boys Champions dance crew has a long history as one of the world’s greatest Hip-Hop inspired entertainers and has distinguished itself at a variety of international venues with its variety of performances which feature free style, choreography and break dancing. The group is assembled from the most talented and skilled dancers from the USA, UK, Japan, Korea, Russia, China, Holland and Scandinavia, with many members having distinguished themselves in one of the many internationally renowned B-Boy Championships held throughout the world. Specializing in break-dancing, old school hip hop, acrobatics, ‘popping and locking’ and many more dance styles, the B-Boys Champions will be giving a versatile yet explosive performance.
The UK based dance crew ‘Plague’ will also be giving an inspiring Hip-Hop dance performance. This group, formed in 2000, are three time winners of the globally recognized UK Hip Hop Street Dance Championship and claimed the World Hip Hop Championship in 2005.
The comedy magician, contortionist and escapologist Criss Cross will be entertaining the crowd with his mysterious and insane show on stage one in the vending area. As one of the UK’s most talented escapologists, Criss will leave spectators in an uncomprehending daze as he escapes from the most impossible and dangerous situations, all the while firing off quick witted humour. This truly individual act features mind boggling card tricks, perilous stunts, baffling body bending routines and an outrageously comical atmosphere that will leave the audience questioning the most basic laws of physics as they are immersed in a world of complete lunacy.
Captivating adults and children alike will be Bruce Airhead’s comical metamorphosis of a man and a six foot balloon, which will see a lycra clad Bruce perform the impossible feat of squeezing his body through the smallest of spaces before performing a hilarious dance routine and instant costume transformation.
As one of the UK’s most talented professional caricaturists, Rick Coleman will be putting pen to paper and providing fans with his own artistic interpretation, giving visitors a unique memory of the Formula 1 ™ Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix to take home. While Rick Coleman produces paper sketches, the Bitter and Twisted caricaturist couple will be creating personalized badges and fridge magnets featuring cartoon drawings portraits. Fans can get their sketches to feature a Formula 1 ™ theme decked out in team liveries for an even more personalized drawing!
Thomas Tribly and Steve Kaos will be performing their legendary juggling act straight from Convent Garden. Clad in hilarious outfits and riding bicycles while on stilts, this comical duo can be found in the vending area and are available for photos.
‘Pop the Balloon man’ has taken balloon sculpture to a new level with his twisting creations. Another Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix veteran, ‘Pop’ will be able to create a range of animal characters and intricate shapes using just a handful of balloons.
The Kart Zone will also be open throughout the 2010 Formula 1™ Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, giving both adults and children the opportunity to try their hand at the Kart circuit, which features several challenging turns and straights, presenting drivers with many passing opportunities and strategic elements. With up to 10 Karts allowed on the circuit at once, friends and families can race together and see who amongst them has the talent to set a lap time record. With many racing greats such as Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Jenson Button and Nico Rosberg all attributing their driving skills due to developing a good base in Karting, this activity will provide an excellent opportunity for aspiring drivers to test their ability.
